Register

Poet and essayist Christian Wiman is professor of the practice of religion and literature at Yale Divinity School. From 2003 to 2013 he was editor of Poetry magazine. As a poet and scholar, his work lies “at the very source of theology,” says Marilynne Robinson. He says “new things in timeless language, so that the reader’s surprise and assent are one and the same.” Wiman’s poems have appeared in the New YorkerAtlantic, and other journals. His books of poetry include Every Riven Thing and Once in the West. His prose works include Ambition and Survival: Becoming a Poet and My Bright Abyss: Meditation of a Modern Believer.
