So did you make it? I only was able to make it in the afternoon and evening on Sat. I'm guessing you didn't manage to drag Brian-- I think I would have recognised him. I really enjoyed what I saw and heard- except for one little weird bit…

Yes, I made it ... (I tried responding to this thread a moment ago, but doesn't seem like my post took). I was only able to go on Friday as I had to coach my son's soccer game on Saturday. But I watched the streaming video on Sat. as I was able. I found the event very refreshing and challenging. Friday night's presentation by Peter Rollins was incredible and they closed with a hymn of lament/doubt that brought me (and I think most present) to tears. When I go to events like this I come away renewed, but wondering how long I can remain in my present ministry context. I had invited Brian, but I guess he wasn't able to come. I was able to reconnect with a lady I went to high school with in Ecuador! It was fun to talk about the 23 years between then and now. What was the "weird bit" -- I was only half listening as i was working on my sermon as the video streamed in the background. When you are exploring the edges, as emergent stuff does, you will bump into some weird stuff ... but sometimes the weird stuff is what challenges me most to think/rethink my own faith and practices.
