Who is this Eliacín guy?

I am a husband/ father/ wandering spiritual companion/ rabble rouser/ photographer/ communitarian/ grassroots practitioner/ community cultivator/ unschooled practical educator/ organic intellectual/

This new season of eliacin.com would be focus on issues of my journey toward Priesthood in the Episcopal Church, liberated spaces, spirituality, alternative living, America Latina, homegrown revolution and photography.

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. In 2005 my family and I moved to Bremerton/Seattle WA as part of our journey toward a more harmonious life and vocation.

My family and I are part of The Mustard Seed House - an intentional community in Seattle - where we eat, play, work, garden, pray and conspire for a new reality. Church of the Apostles is my local community of faith where I am part of the Society of the Order of Saint Julian - pastoral care team. I also facilitate "Prayer and Pancakes" an experimental gathering around a breakfast meal seeking to foster community, prayer and hospitality. I am a Postulant for Holy Orders in The Episcopal Church, that means I am a Priest wannabe.

I often speak and facilitate conversations on the following subjects:
  • Spiritual Formation
  • Liberated Spaces
  • Mysticism in the City
  • Neo-Monasticism
  • Anti-Racism and Racial Reconciliation
  • Alternative Education
  • Autonomous Movements
  • Intentional Community
  • Latino Ministry
  • Emergent/ing Church
  • Multiculturalism
  • Global Justice Movements
  • Spiritual Listening
  • Creative Expressions of Church
I serve as Community Cultivator with Mustard Seed Associates (MSA), a community of Jesus’ followers all over the world striving to create the future one mustard seed at a time. MSA provides resources and a network for committed followers of Jesus to anticipate the future, decode the culture, convey the Kingdom of God and create new ways of being a difference and make a difference.

I am active in the following networks and communities:

Anglimergent, a generous and generative friendship among diverse Anglicans, engaging emerging church and mission.

The Episcopal Village, a wholistic, grassroots 'community and initiative,' supporting Episcopal dioceses, parishes and leaders in 'mission shaped' and 'fresh expression' evangelism, leadership development, church and ministry planting, drawing on the giftings of the Anglican ethos and using a 'village'.

Emergent Village, a social network of missional Christians around the world

The Common Root, a movement made up of denominational Anabaptists, neo-Anabaptists, peace-minded liberationists, Catholic Workers, and other theological exiles and refugees.

TransFORM, a network with the purpose to bring together sisters and brothers who are on the verge of starting new communities (i.e., community catalysts) or are already cultivating new communities and to give them the encouragement and resources they need to get started and be sustainable.

In the June 2008 I was honored to be featured on an issue of Sojourners Magazine as one the the top 10 Next-Gen leaders to watch. Read the article.

Some of writings have appeared in God's Politics (Sojourners Blog), Seed Sampler (Mustard Seed Associates), Geez Magazine, Prism Magazine, Novos Diálogos (Brasil) and other publications.

thanks, eliacin. i'm interested to see how this is used! honestly, my first thought was "another network to join?!" but i'm hoping it is very fruitful from many angles, especially on the praxis side as well as the "how can a group of people start from scratch" side. i see there is already a forum thread along those lines!

hoping to make it to seattle eventually and that we can meet up.

Well.. I'm not sure about that. It is good to see. And, yes, I'm "here". But mostly observing and saying "yes, please, more". But, not really doing anything.
