Welcome to the New Transform Classroom Online!

Since our founding in 2009, we at Transform Network have been committed to learning how to walk justly and humbly together in a time when church continues to be an ideological battleground used to oppress as much as to liberate.

Our mission has been “to resource, train, and mobilize people and communities of faith to join what God is already doing in the world, growing transformative church and social justice movements.” It’s the heart of why we do this work.

That’s why we’re so grateful to announce that this trinity of action—to resource, to train, to mobilize—has finally been assembled in one place: Transform Classroom Online!

Transform Classroom Online (TCO) makes the amazing work of our speakers and partners accessible to all who want it, whenever and wherever they want it. It is not lost on us how the issue of accessibility has taken on a whole new meaning in these isolating times. We are heartened to offer multiple ways of practicing our faith in community safely.

A blend of on-demand and cohort-style courses, TCO gives you the choice of participating in courses on your own time or of working through the material with others. We’re celebrating our launch with a 12-week interactive book group led by longtime Transform speaker and co-founder Pastor Kathy Escobar.

Practicing with Kathy Escobar explores the methods laid out in her brand new book, Practicing: Changing Yourself to Change the World. For just the cost of a donation ($25 recommended, but pay what you can) and the book, you and your fellow cohort members will learn how to transform yourself in order to have the strength to transform the world.

From healing and loving to equalizing and advocating, these practices provide tangible ways to live a life of love, mercy, and justice when our world is more fragmented than ever. Practicing with Kathy Escobar begins on Monday, April 20th. We hope you’ll join us for these 12 weeks of transformational work!

We’re also excited to announce our fifth year running Walking Wounded, our 4-week flagship course. Led by Kathy Escobar and Phyllis Mathis, Walking Wounded is for those of us who have been wounded by church. Perhaps you were encouraged or forced to leave your church after questioning some of its teachings. Or, maybe you had a negative experience with church leadership and weren’t believed. Through videos, conversations, readings, journaling, and wellness exercises, Kathy and Phyllis will guide you through the confusion to a place of purpose and peace. ALL are welcome. Our next Walking Wounded cohort begins on Monday, June 1st.

Finally, we’re so excited that Loretta Pyles’s Healing Justice course has been transformed into an on-demand course that you can access anytime. Moving beyond the commodified language of “self-care,” this course provides a holistic healing process for changemakers for all aspects of our self, from our bodies and our environments to our spiritual and emotional wellbeing. Social workers and licensed mental health providers can also use this course for CE credits.

As Transform Network enters its second decade, it’s more important than ever to mobilize communities of faith to spread love, mercy, and justice in the world. Although we certainly didn’t plan it this way (!), Transform Classroom Online has come at the perfect time: when we can best show solidarity with others by staying physically distant but spiritually together. We hope you’ll join us in this new leg of our journey.
