TransFORM - a missional community formation network

Visual Artists, Musicians, Creative Writers, etc.

Information

Visual Artists, Musicians, Creative Writers, etc.

One of my operating assumptions about missional communities is that they allow space for creative types to breathe... or to allow the Spirit's breathing through them. This group is for all self-identified artists to connect, & maybe collaborate.

Howdy all! First off, my apologies to those of you whom I contacted ages ago about being involved in the creative worship bits at TransFORM conference (I'm thinking particularly of Callid and…Continue

Artistically, what are the challenges of bringing together the creative and the communal?

One of the dichotomies experienced especially in church life, is that of the demands of the community (to agree, cohere, empathise) and the artist (to challenge and create). It might be expressed as…Continue

Hey Amy,
Sweet. I'd love to be kept in the loop. I don't really play an instrument (at least not well) but I sing, paint and write. I'm excited to see what you guys are cooking up. Let me know if i can help.
Also, as a side note, I think one of the real benefits of this kind of gathering will be the realization that I'm not/you're not/ we're not the only one doing the work we do. The above post is a prime example: I spend time explaining something I think few people have done, and bam you are already doing it! I hope the conference is full of stuff like that.

You have to find a good and common goal and bring together all talents to participate. Then you have a complete functioning body.

Hey Jamie,
Thanks for the input! Any examples of goals that have worked for you in the past? Right now I'm working with some folks on a framework for how the worship at TransFORM will work, and I have a visual/aural image of what I think we can do, but I'm definitely up for suggestions on process.
Peace.

Hey Y'all! Am a once aspiring poet, producer of street life vignettes, leaning toward postmodern & absurdist lit. what does that have to do w/ my spiritual sensabililties? Just not sure. DC sounds great, though I'm fairly bound to my neighborhood. Still looking about & trying my might. Glad to have found y'all (I can say y'all w/ authority as I was born in Harlan KY).

Hey Adele! Sure, we're hoping to incorporate spoken word into the worship... do you think you'll be able to participate in a tokbox call with a few of us? I've posted a discussion on this if you want to hop on it.
