let's belong !!
Is it time to link emergent individuals, groups and churches in our region and if "yes" how do we go about doing it?
I have used the word "link" instead of "connect" but let's look at how strong the links should be.
If we are to be a missional community, how do we create missional out of diversity and yet show a commonality, and a sense of belonging?
I have lots of questions around this topic.......anyone up to discussing these things?

Relational connections are really primary. Any network that is more formal does require communities who are established to participate, but I'm not sure how many 'emergent/missional' communities are established and networked in SA or CT.
I tend to think that each group can be missional, the choice of being missional together is challenging. If anyone's got any ideas I'd love to hear them. -

I agree that relational connections are important and this each group needs to be missional. However, I'm facinated by the concept of "Belonging" on various levels. -

I think its worth stating what we have come to accept as normative: that we are switching the expired notion "Believe-Behave-Belong" to "Belong-Behave-Believe". So if belonging is primary, then the chief mission of the church / sacred tribe is no longer to convince and teach, but to host.
I think that we can always "err". Moderns err by thinking that by believing, we will find true belonging. I do not see this as being a feasible and sustainable way to community - belonging based on shared opinion.
"Belongers" may err by never addressing issues of belief.But I'd say that people will naturally go there once they know they are accepted and loved. And then the way to do this is not by monologue but via dialog.
This belong first approach is so much more consonant with the New Testament, IMO. -

Perhaps, if we could set up a time and place to meet it would help as long as there is proper planning. Networking is ideal and is a welcomed. Let us put much prayer unto this. With God it is possible. If meeting at one place may be too involving, an application form may be developed and the interested may sign and from this we may see what next.
