Evangelical, Pastor, Gay, Out... What Now?

A few weeks back a former student of mine contacted me asking if I'd agree to an intense interview about my "coming out" story, and that he was asked to submit an article at "The Rumpus," an online magazine out of San Francisco, CA. I agreed, and the article can be accessed at the link I posted above.

This student, Kyle Minor, is now a lecturing professor in writing at the University of Toledo, and is a highly respected published author. I'm very proud of his accomplishments, and, not within the small and insular Christian publishing world. He was recently named among the top 20 young American authors to watch and read. 

I'm very pleased with how the article came out, and it has received substantial attention, with over 100,000 hits thus far, and enough continuing comments to make it rise to the number 5 spot on the site's "most popular posts." 

Kyle is excited, as is his publisher, so they flew him down this past weekend to spend 4 days with me in a far more extensive interview. 30 hours of audio and notebooks of notes later, we're both very tired, but, Kyle thinks he has a book on his hands. I'm sort of scared and excited at the same time! LOL
