Hey Jamie - we originally started a Canada wide group, but then along with the admin here decided people may want separate regions... plus I was under the assumption non-torontonians hated toronto anyways. are there many more of you out west?
I think as the network spreads in Canadian involvement, we will see regional groups form. I would suspect that it will be slow, as there are several very active missional networks that are Canada specific already functioning with significant numbers (i.e. Forge, Resonate, etc.) Either way, I don't have a preference in doing things regionally. Thanks!
Jamie, Lon, if you guys think there should just be one group for Canada right now, just say the word. I thought it would be better to start off more regional, but you may be right and it's better to start broader and work towards having smaller regional groups?
I am ok with regional too, though I suspect it might be easier to have a national basis to start with. My only suggestion, if we stick with regional, is to change the URL for this group. Lon's joke aside, as a former Ontarian, it is true that other parts of Canada can have attitude problems with Ontario, so have GTA under the /group/canada URL might burn some bridges. Just a thought.
haha, i just noticed the url... i'm really okay either way. my gut is that there just aren't that many 'emerging' canadians out there to go around to have too many active online hubs going on... that's why the national route may work better for the time being, and we could have regional discussion threads...? otherwise, let's switch back to a regional url
oh wow, I didn't even realize that the URL was /canada! good point, Jamie. OK so there's only two options (because apparently I can't change the URL for the group at this point): 1) delete this group and re-start it with a different URL; or 2) change the name of the group to just "Canada" and open it to all Canadians.
