sin isn't the reason why we're frail, if that's true than what is?

since my diving into jewish theology and language and historical study....i find the eastern view and the western view of sin at odds with one another. in the west, sin is pervasive and epidemic. in the eastern view, sin has the ability to be pervasive (hear the difference?) and isn't epidemic but a decision-by-decision process we choose to join in on.

i am working on a short pamphlet to discuss this very topic...this is a bit different to the question of why do we suffer? i like Rob Bell's approach to that question which is more akin to "what do we do after the suffering?" -- this is the end goal of this pamphlet. and so I am doing research and would love to get your thoughts on possible ideas/opinions/'answers' to the discussion title?

thanks!

What a great post. My wife and I had dinner the other day with a friend of ours, a young Muslim women. We often discuss faith, religions and keep each other in our prayers. But the other day Mehj turned to us and said 'ok you guys, what is the deal with Original Sin'.

The Eastern Church does not even have a concept of Original Sin. For them humanity is the good creation of God, which on occassion drifts off course. The greek for Sin just means to 'miss the mark', to bee headed in the write direction, but to be off a bit. I like that view much better.
yes. i think i am in place where i see too much good in the world to think that its going to hell. that for some reason jesus too must have had hope for it to come and seek and to save the lost as well as the world. brilliant. how is the progressive group coming along?
