Friends- I am writing an article on an ADHD
Liberation theology. I submitted a draft to the Journal of Religion,
Health and Disability and got it back with a ton of helpful notes and an
asighned co-author. Part of my goal is to ask: What does an ADHD God
look like?
Disability theology imagines God in a 'puff'
wheelchair, Queer theology imagines God as queer (I met my wife at a
conference on queer theology, so i am a fan!). Black theology imagines
God as black. So....ADHD....
"What does an ADHD God look like to
me? For me that God is Playful-Passionate-Prophetic, is hyperfocused and
empathetic, multi-channeled, hungry to lear along with us, Future
Haunted but interdependent in making that future happen. An ADHD God has
no attention for injustice or disscrimination but takes Joy and
Pleasure in relationships, the wonder and awe of creation and in the
beauty of discovery. An ADHD God is an Upper Room God - turning chaos
into revelation, disrupting our assumptions and plans and revealing
Godself in the unexpected."
I would love to hear responses from
Queer Theology and would welcome being pointed towards books on the
topic. I feel Queer Theology, more so than disability theology, has
allot to teach ADHDers.
